Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before booking.
Answers to what clients typically ask before getting in touch.
- How do I know you won't just try to sell me a new system when all I need is a repair?
- Jason's approach is to diagnose the system first and tell you what he found before discussing options. If a $200 repair will give a furnace or AC unit several more reliable years, that is what he will tell you. Replacement only comes up when the repair cost is high relative to the system's remaining useful life, and that comparison is always explained clearly so you can make the call yourself.
- How fast can you get here if my heat goes out or my AC dies during a heat wave?
- Same-day response is the goal for no-heat and no-cool calls, particularly during peak season. Because Jason is owner-operated and works throughout Glenshaw and the North Hills, he is not routing calls through a dispatch center or a waiting list of crews. Call or email directly and he will give you an honest arrival window, not a four-hour range with no follow-up.
- Will I know what everything costs before you start the work?
- Yes. Pricing is discussed after the diagnostic and before any repair begins. There are no surprise charges added at the end of a visit. If the scope changes once work is underway, that conversation happens before the work does.
- Are you licensed and insured, and can you pull permits when the work requires them?
- Jason is fully licensed and insured to perform HVAC work in Pennsylvania. Permit requirements vary by municipality and by the type of work involved. When a permit is required for your installation or replacement, that is handled as part of the job, not an afterthought.
- Do you work on both homes and small commercial spaces, or just residential?
- Both. Along with residential work, Jason services small commercial properties, including offices and retail spaces throughout the Pittsburgh area. If you have a question about whether a specific property or system type falls within his scope, the fastest way to find out is a quick phone call.
- Will you work with my existing equipment and brand, or push me toward something specific?
- Jason services and repairs equipment from a wide range of manufacturers regardless of brand. For new installations, he works with American Standard and Mitsubishi systems because he has installed and serviced them long enough to stand behind them, not because of a sales incentive. If you have a preference or an existing system you want to keep, that is part of the conversation from the start.
- How do I know the diagnosis is real and not something made up to justify a charge?
- Jason walks through what he found during the diagnostic, what the failed component looks like, and what caused the problem. If a part needs replacing, you see it. The goal is for you to understand what happened to your system well enough to make a confident decision, not to take his word for it.
- Do you offer maintenance plans so I can avoid surprise breakdowns?
- Preventive maintenance is a real part of the business, not just an upsell. A seasonal tune-up catches worn ignitors, low refrigerant, dirty coils, and other issues before they become emergency calls. Many homeowners in the area schedule furnace service in early fall and AC service in spring, before the first hard demand of each season. Ask about what a maintenance visit includes when you call.
- Can you install and set up a smart thermostat with my system?
- Yes. Thermostat installation is part of the work on most new system jobs, and Jason handles smart thermostat retrofits on existing equipment as well. He will verify compatibility with your system before installation and walk you through the setup so you are not guessing at the settings afterward.
- How long will installation take, and will I be without heat or AC the whole time?
- Most residential furnace or AC replacements are completed in a single day. Ductless mini-split installations vary depending on the number of zones and how the refrigerant lines need to be routed, but a single-zone installation is typically a one-day job as well. Jason gives a realistic time estimate before scheduling so you can plan around it, and he will be direct if anything during the job is likely to extend the timeline.
